The Reconstruction of the Sims Family Homestead, the Spring House and Smoke House, pond and meadow will serve as a combination museum, library and gathering place where neighbors will assemble before a day's activities of fishing, picnicking and nature trail hiking. A winding trail follows Betsy Creek down the valley from the Sims Family Homestead to a height reaching the pinnacle of Pilot Knob Mountain. Reborn and resplendent, the Sims Family Homestead has been recreated as a tribute to turn of the century Appalachian mountain living for generations to enjoy.
A family named Sims found and homesteaded this hidden valley at the turn of the century... More
All elements of the Sims Valley lifestyle are connected by the thread of the nature trail system that runs throughout the community designed by Trail Dynamics, whose expertise has been used by the National Park Service. The best place to begin is at the Sims Family Homestead where the trail follows Betsy Creek down the valley through rock formations, a sliding rock waterfall and masses of Rhododendron, Laurel and Locust. Running Cedar and other mountain flora abound on the trail before it turns up towards the rim and Pilot Mountain. The trail system is also accessible at other Sims Valley facilities.

A dramatic owners pool and fitness center is located at one of the prime vista locations in Sims Valley. The clubhouse has a large great room with fireplace, caterer’s kitchen, outdoor barbeque and spa. Two outdoor fireplaces on the covered decks provide just the right ambience for great gatherings. This amenity is already finished and ready to enjoy, not like many planned communities that build it last, this gated community built their amenities first for everyone to enjoy!

Situated at the northern edge of the valley overlooking the Cullowhee Valley, the chapel offers an open air gathering place with a fireplace on the veranda. The chapel is also a restful spot to enjoy a moment of quiet contemplation while absorbing the mountain majesty of one of the best valley vistas looking 30-40 miles out over the mountains to the horizon.
